Dr. Anthony Di Fonzo, Hon BSc, MMI, MD, CCFP, DCAPM, CIME
Medical Director of Mississauga Chronic Pain Centre
Dr. Anthony Di Fonzo is a graduate of the University of Toronto, where he achieved Honours for his Bachelors of Science undergraduate degree, Masters degree, Medical degree, and Residency training. He has trained in hospitals all over the Greater Toronto Area, including Toronto Western, St. Michael’s, North York General, Sunnybrook, Mount Sinai, Toronto General, Trillium Health Partners, and Toronto East General. Upon completion of residency, he attained Change of Scope designation in Interventional Pain Management, and currently runs a diverse clinical practice, working in emergency medicine, primary care, and chronic pain management.
Complementing his medical education with his Masters of Management of Innovation degree, Dr. Di Fonzo is passionate about bringing the latest medical advancements to the bedside. This ensures that his patients receive the most innovative, up-to- date treatments and therapies available. He is also involved in medical research and education as Lecturer and Clinician Teacher at the University of Toronto, teaching medical students and residents about the latest research and developments in the field of chronic pain.
Dr. Di Fonzo co-founded the Mississauga Chronic Pain Centre with the belief that treating chronic pain mandates focus on the patient, not the disease. He quickly realized the significant impact chronic pain has on the thousands of patients he sees in his practice, and vowed to create a clinic which addresses the complexities of chronic pain using multi-modal treatment strategies, ensuring optimal pain relief and functioning for his patients.
